We recommend using Rhino‑Rack USA products to transport your Echo. A flat‑bar rack, such as any of the Vortex systems paired with Pioneer Wrap Pads, provides the best support. We prefer transporting the boats hull‑down, as it distributes weight more evenly.
We do not recommend kayak "J" racks because they place excessive pressure on the gunwale. Always secure the boat with proper tie‑down straps, such as Rapid Straps. For longer highway trips, add a bow line to the front of the vehicle and a stern line to the rear for additional stability.
If lifting the boat onto the roof is challenging, consider the Rhino‑Rack Universal Side Loader. Rhino‑Rack offers several excellent options to keep your boat safe and secure during transport.
