Led a
kayak trip in Newport RI
last week; paddling the
harbor through all the
massive boats and then
circling Goat Island
where wind, tide and
heavy large powerboat
traffic had caused three
foot chop. Echo handled
beautifully in difficult
conditions. Perfect boat
for me. Attached are two
pics, not too useful for
you but interesting..
one by sailboat rental
area and the other at
Newport Jazz Festival
where we tried for a
free listening spot, but
were eventually asked to
leave.

We
received this note and photos from Echo Enthusiasts Ed &
Barb Nicholson:
"Hi Lorna....it was nice to chat with you. Here are photos
of our favorite Maine rowing site.....Lake Webb in Weld.
One shot is an "aerial view"; taken when we climbed Bald
Mountain. The other is Ed showing our 6 year old grandson
the intricacies of rowing an Echo! He needs to get a bit
taller, but he'll be dynamite when he can make it go! See
you Sunday......"

Susan Schmidt loads her Echo in front of
the1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse, being restored on the waterfront
park in Edenton, North Carolina. Barker House, Susan's office as
director of the Edenton Historical Commission, overlooks the bay
where the Chowan and Roanoke rivers enter Albemarle Sound. Edenton
is the center of hundreds of miles of year-round rowing on rivers in
northeastern North Carolina.
